Accompaniment Advocate Job Description


RISE is a nonprofit organization that serves survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault/abuse and their loved ones. The tagline of RISE– Respect. Inspire. Support. Empower embodies the work of RISE. We believe RESPECT is the cornerstone to ending violence and creating peace. We INSPIRE the community to be active in the movement to end gender-based violence. We SUPPORT loved ones of those affected by sexual assault/abuse and intimate partner violence. We EMPOWER victims to heal from trauma and transform their lives.


Reporting to the Volunteer Manager, the Accompaniment Advocate provides in-person accompaniment services for community members seeking support at various accompaniment sites (including but not limited to: the SART office, the emergency room, law enforcement interviews, RISE emergency shelters, etc). The Accompaniment Advocate coordinates with after-hours crisis line primary advocates in their request for in-person advocacy during the weekends and holidays, and provides crisis counseling and advocacy to those clients.

All services are provided confidentially, at low or no cost, to anyone regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or ability. All crisis services are available in Spanish and English.
